Beliefs

The Episcopal Church is the American province of the Anglican Communion, a worldwide body of over 70 million Christians who trace their origins to the Church of England.

We strive to live by the message of Christ, in which there are no outcasts and all are welcome.  We walk a middle way between Roman Catholicism and Protestant traditions, because much Episcopal theology is Protestant in nature, while much of Episcopal worship, spiritual practice, and church structure resemble Catholicism.

Because we are a sacramental and worship-oriented church that promotes thoughtful debate about what God is calling us to do and be, as followers of Christ, many individuals and families from a variety of backgrounds find in the Episcopal Church a home that honors their faith traditions and encourages spiritual growth. Episcopalians are thinking Christians who engage questions of faith with both seriousness and great joy.

Our Presiding Bishop is Katharine Jefferts Schori, the first woman leader of the Episcopal Church.
