OUR STORY
As the city of Houston has undergone dynamic growth and change in recent decades, Grace has changed too, always adapting to the new things God is doing among us and in our city and neighborhood.
A Good Beginning for Two - Grace to Become One Congregation
Originally, two neighborhood Episcopal churches were established in the mid 20th century: St. George's in 1958 and St. Patrick's in 1959. Both congregations came together in 1985 to form one new church on West Bellfort Avenue. And in 2010, we undertook a new name to reflect the work of God among us: Grace.
Building on the Legacy
Grace builds on a rich legacy of ministry: nurturing children through our historic day school, reaching out into the neighborhood through community partners, and by tending and opening our community garden and orchard to neighbors.
We enjoy life-giving community partnerships with Braes Interfaith Ministries, the Weekly Family YMCA, Episcopal Health Foundation, and others.
Commitment to deepening spirituality and holistic wellness informs all that we do. In our life together we engage spiritual practices like meditation, centering prayer, worship, reading groups, and Bible study. Our Tree of Life Labyrinth is available by appointment for individual or group meditation and prayer.
