About Grace Episcopal Church
As the city of Houston has undergone dynamic growth and change in recent decades, Grace has changed too, always adapting to the new things God is doing among us and in our city and neighborhood.
We are a multi-cultural, multi-racial, and multi-generational congregation that does our best to welcome all. We find joy and meaning in our shared Episcopal tradition, while honoring our diversity.

Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it (1 Corinthians 12:27).
From "Two Saints" to One Grace - Two Congregations Become One
Originally, two neighborhood Episcopal churches were established in the mid 20th century: St. George's in 1958 and St. Patrick's in 1959. Both congregations came together in 1985 to form one new church on West Bellfort Avenue. And in 2010, we undertook a new name to reflect the work of God among us: Grace.
In 2022, Grace introduced a Spanish language service led by our Assisting Priest, Padre Alejandro Montes. En 2022, Grace introdujo un servicio en español dirigido por nuestro sacerdote asistente, el Padre Alejandro Montes.
After years of uncertainty about our future, Grace is now a growing congregation. We became an independent parish again in 2022, ringing the bell at the annual Diocesan Council meeting and ushering in a new season of hope.
Building on the Legacy
Grace builds on a rich legacy of ministry: nurturing children through our historic day school, reaching out into the neighborhood through community partners, and finding ways to invite others into the community. We are an affirming congregation that welcomes LGBTQ+ people into all areas of leadership, both lay and ordained.

Rejoice with those who rejoice; weep with those who weep (Romans 12:15).
Grace is a founding member of Braes Interfaith Ministries (BIM), an organization that offers emergency aid to our neighbors through their food pantry, thrift store, and utilities fund. Our clergy gather regularly with other local ministers and our interfaith committee plans seasonal events with the Turquoise Cultural Center for Muslim-Christian dialogue. Our Tree of Life Labyrinth offers space for reflection.
We are committed to deepening spirituality through worship, study, outreach, and relationships. Above all, we are a congregation that tries to show up for one another in times of grief and in times of joy.
In 2016, Grace gave birth to YogaMass®, now blessing that ministry to continue throughout the City of Houston and Texas.
