OUR STORY
As the city of Houston has undergone dynamic growth and change in recent decades, Grace has changed too, always adapting to the new things God is doing among us and in our city and neighborhood.
A Good Beginning for Two - Grace To Be One Congregation
Originally, two neighborhood Episcopal churches were established in the mid 20th century: St. George's in 1958 and St. Patrick's in 1959. Both congregations came together in 1985 to form one new church on West Bellfort Avenue. And in 2010, we undertook a new name to reflect the work of God among us: Grace.
Building the Legacy
Grace builds on a rich legacy of ministry: nurturing children through our historic day school. reaching out into the neighborhood with our twice-weekly breakfast and friendship ministry - Grace2Go, and with our community garden and orchard.
We enjoy life-giving community partnerships with Braes Interfaith Ministries, the Weekely YMCA, The United Way, Houston Graduate School of Theology, and others.
Commitment to deepening spirituality and holistic wellness supports all that we do. Throughout each week and month we engage practices meditation, centering prayer, worship, reading groups, Bible study, and worship. Our Tree of Life Labyrinth is available by appointment for individual or group meditation and prayer.
In 2016, Grace gave birth to YogaMass®. That ministry now continues throughout the City of Houston, the US, and around the world.
